Amy Pitt

Working with aspects from unfamiliar places, happenings and sculptural elements in the world I form an archive of photographs, objects and accounts that is the basis of my working process. From that archive I combine together different features to create collages that concern ideas of mass, multiples, time, temporality, structure and contrasts of materials. Temporal structures in the world are prominent in my archive, therefore in many cases time is an important element in my work, the work can exist in many different forms and change over a period of time similar to the temporal within the everyday.

A contrast from one environment in which I work to another can drive my decisions for the use of certain materials. An example is using materials you find in the country in the city.

Reflection upon the unfamiliar when removed from it, leads my thought process when making work. However, my thought process can subconsciously be affected by the removal from a place or something I find familiar when in an unfamiliar setting.
