Ghada Da

The main aim of my work is an essential investigation of the visible landscape presented by the body and the spatial area in which the body exists as well as its invisible counter part; the psyche. This helps me create a dialog with the body and understand its complexity, usually starting with my own. I normally tend to create images that become psychological portraits of the identity of the body by either an intentional mutation or an intersex by design to allow the sculptural body to live outside the gender system.

In this regard the concept of space becomes important to my work. I wish to challenge the norm of one physical space in which all bodies exist, and also to focus on the other dimension, the higher plain where spirituality prevails to explain the intricacies of the body and its psyche.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
