Guy Allen

The works produced for the final show and the journey leading towards them have been about experimentation and discovery. My exploration throughout numerous materials, including ink, etching, resin and finally fibreglass has lead me to realise the importance of not just the final outcome, but the path and process itself. I have also explored and come to a realisation about how to express my attitude and interpret issues that are of great importance to me. My final pieces echo my concerns about globalisation and consumer culture: how the individual becomes the collective; how the solo becomes the chorus; how variety becomes uniformity. My work expresses these ideas through a purely visual plane in congruence with my interest in the path towards abstraction.
